Today's show featured Brian McKenzie of CrossFit Endurance. Brian is very accomplished as an endurance athlete, but he's also very accomplished at training people to improve as endurance athletes. Besides having some of the coolest tats in all of CrossFit this guy knows anything and everything about running, the bio-mechanics behind it, shoe technology, etc. I know that I always say that I learned a lot from our guest, but I think if you listened to the interview then you would have to agree with me. I'll bet that even if you have attended one of Brian's certs you would have still picked up on something useful from today's interview. If you missed the show you can still listen to the interview by clicking here and going to episode 16. Listen as Brian debunks common shoe buying beliefs, and the science behind what he says. Brian also gave a brief overview of his running certifications. After the show Neil and I agreed we need to get to one of Brian's certs ASAP.
Tomorrow morning's show will feature Brian McKenzie. Tune in live to listen to a great interview. This will be our first show of the new year and we will be running under our new format of three shows a week. The shows will be shorter, with one guest per show. This will allow us to get more in depth with our interviews. Our schedule will be as follows: Sunday the 4th at 8 am pacific, Wed the 7th at 6:30 pm pacific, Friday the 9th at 6:30 pm pacific, then we will be on every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6:30 pm.
What are your CrossFit Resolutions for 2009? Have you resolved to beat those PRs like the red headed step-children they are? Never gonna miss the main site WODs? On top of the two already mentioned, I have resolved to do better at responding to comments left on this site. We'll devote some time to this topic on the show. Leave some comments that we can use as "comments of the week," this Sunday.
This is a video of the Navy wrestling team working out. I found this workout
interesting because it's basically a CrossFit workout, except for a few exercises.
These guys are bad asses but they seriously need to work on their form. Perhaps
they need to attend a Cert. Maybe Jimi L. can hook them up since he wrestled
for Navy. The vid is kinda long but us CrossFitters like watching others as they
prepare to meet Pukie (don't have a clue if I spelled that right).
Anyway, check it out and let me know what you think. Oh, and Happy New Year
from the CFR boys!
To be honest with you I thought this interview wasn't going to be as exciting as most of the other interviews that we have done. I am glad to say that I was sorely mistaken. Lisbeth is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to CrossFit but even more so when it comes to blogging on the Internet. If you didn't know, she is in charge of the Affiliate blog. If you post on a site and haven't heard the podcast then you should stop reading this blog now and go listen to the podcast. You can do so by clicking on this link.
O.k. - I took some crap from Neil for writing a poem, but I thought it was a good way to wrap up the end of the year. Here it is:
If you want radio that matches your workouts then there's only one name to be heard.
CrossFit Radio is that voice. So sit back while the Kool-Aid is sipped and stirred.
Catch insights from CrossFit celebs as they describe their trials.
From Kilgore to Mackenzie as he tells how to decrease the miles.
On an early show Allison NYC gave her two Cents worth
Camacho's humor brought to the show a certain amount of mirth.
From Damon Stewart the affiliate owner at Wasatch CrossFit
To Bill Patton as he tells why Logsitall is simply the shit.
Bill Henniger of Rogue Fitness is definitely the man.
Jason Kalipa shows why he's no flash in the pan.
Yes, this is functional radio done at high intensity.
Hear how Steve Liberati is changing a community
Listen to Robb Wolf tell you what and how to eat
There's something wrong with you if Coach Burgener doesn't put you on the edge of your seat.
John Brown, Cindi Rodi, Joe Marsh, on the show we've had them all
Though short in stature among CrossFitters Jeanie Bassie stands tall
Andy Stumpf owner of CrossFit Coronado is a bad ass SEAL
Jolie is on Reno Ty's Christmas list and I know he'd like to cop a feel
CrossFit BrandX was well represented by Mikki Martin
If Maynard has no hands then how does he do any blue dartin
Coach Rippetoe in Texas always says "Get below parallel on your squat."
Nicole Carroll was also on our show and she sure does know a lot.

Now Johnny DiGregorio zones for every meal - especially dinner.
Tony Budding is one of the men behind the scenes.
Josh Everett lifts a ton whether it's snatches, deads, or cleans.
CrossFit Mississuaga is being extorted by a certifiable prick.
We got a lot of mileage out of Mike Boyle but I still think he's a dick.
It's said that "Tanya Wagner is a beast," and she's definitely o.k. with that.
The CrossFit Nation now knows what the Ballsteadts do after they have a spat.
Andy Petranek from CrossFit L.A. sure is cool.
I don't know if I said it before but Mike Boyle sure is a tool.
Jason "Rhabdo" Kaplan did a sub 2 minute Fran
Some said his reps weren't great but we thought he was the man.
We try to make the show fun, we try to make it sleek.
We throw in things like our Christmas wish list, and comments of the week.
We got a lot of funny posts from "you know when you've been sippin too much of the Kool-Aid"
Dutch Lowry is a great CrossFit Athlete, in fact, he told us about the price that he has paid.
Jolie Gentry has been a champ at the Games and stood on the medal stand.
If you're looking to get your own affiliate then Lisa Lugo will give you a hand.
Caity Matter is a class act, and at the games she's impossible to beat
The last show of the year will feature Pat Barber and I think his beard is neat.
Tony Blauer is a nice guy - just don't piss him off cuz he'll kick your ass.
I don't know about you but paleo sure does give me gas
At the beginning of every show we welcome all with a different description
There's been Oly liftin bastards, pull-up sons-a-bitches, but dumb asses gave everyone a caniption.
Jimi Letchford is in charge of Operation Phoenix, give this your support because it's a great cause.
The program really helps Marines, from that endeavor we shouldn't take a pause.
If in 09 we can get Sevan to come on, it will be the best show of the year.
Hell if he'd come on we'd even send him a case of his favorite beer.
I've saved the best for last because without these two this show wouldn't have passed the test.
Yes I'm talking about Lauren and Coach Glassman, they really are the best.
Thanks go out to them and all of our listeners too.
Even though, I'm sure, there's only 14 of you.
We've got some big names on the show tomorrow. Pat Barber and someone special from HQ......I'm going to keep you in suspense until tomorrow morning. Also, I have been working hard on little year end poem and I think it turned out pretty well. Tune in at 8 am Pacific time to listen live. Click on the listen now tab on the left of the blog, sit back, and enjoy.
